FOREWORD

   Malaysia's economic boom and its growth to a newly indrustrialized nation has been brought about and sustained through the work and sweet of migrant workers. as we developed, malaysians began to refuse the 3D-dirty, demanding and dangerous jobs. thus, as a nation, we continue to rely on migrant workers to keep our economy going strong.

     

    however, migrant workers have not enjoyed the same right and benefist as local workers do. tenaganita's work and involvement with migrant workers reveal that migrant are exploited, cheated and abused and discriminated by employers, recruiting agents and even goverenment agencies.

     the seven powerful testimonies by the migrant workwrs reveal how the sistem of recuitment, employment and emforcement of laws support a system that denies workers rights, denies access to justice and redress and silences migrant to subordination.

    silence voices, a package of songs, poems, images of migrant workers and testimonies reveals the plight of migrant workers and their pight for justice to gain their dignity as human beings and as workers.

    I am indeed happy that tenaganita has been able to povide this space to migrant workers to freely express themselves in music and in words to reveal their experinces, their struggles, their espirations and their hopes.

    I hope that this revelation of migrant lives and with your support, we can break the silence and join hands together to bring dignity to migrant workers and their families. we can tear down the walls of prejudice and build bridges to construct a society of harmony, peace and understanding.
